How can you build a regular fitness routine?
By joining a gym when it was on sale, feeling great about my life choice, then wondering why I joined when 4 weeks later I’d been once, so that bargain deal I got when I joined was having the last laugh.
At the time, it felt responsible. Sensible. Almost athletic. I pictured myself becoming one of those people who casually said, “I’m just off to the gym,” like it was a normal part of life and not a full psychological event involving shoes, leggings, water bottles and convincing myself not to sit back down.
Four weeks later, I’d been once. Once. The gym membership was sitting there smugly taking money, while I was at home eating chocolate and pretending the walk from the couch to the fridge counted as functional movement. So yes, technically I got a bargain. Unfortunately, the bargain appeared to have joined me.
